SPARKS CODE OF CONDUCT
Introduction
This Code of Conduct Policy is designed to establish clear guidelines and expectations for all participants involved in our junior basketball program. It adheres to Basketball England's Code of Ethics and Conduct requirements and ensures compliance with UK safeguarding standards.
1. Players' Code of Conduct
Commitment and Participation

Attend all training sessions and games punctually as scheduled

Notify coaches in advance of any unavoidable absences

Arrive prepared with appropriate kit and equipment

Maintain good academic standing and behave well in class while participating in the program (Applicable to Holly Lodge Academy Students)
Behaviour and Sportsmanship

Demonstrate respect towards coaches, officials, teammates, and opponents

Refrain from using inappropriate language or engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct

Accept officials' decisions without protest

Support and encourage teammates in both victory and defeat
Safety and Well-being

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines during training and games

Report any injuries or health concerns to coaching staff immediately

Maintain proper hydration and nutrition

Adhere to the club's anti-bullying policy
2. Coaches' Code of Conduct
Professional Responsibilities

Maintain current coaching qualifications and DBS certification
-
Attend required safeguarding training and workshops
-
Ensure all activities align with Basketball England's coaching standards
Safety and Supervision

Conduct proper warm-up and cool-down sessions
-
Maintain appropriate coach-to-player ratios

Ensure playing environment and equipment meet safety standards

Follow emergency procedures when necessary
Communication and Conduct

Maintain professional boundaries with players and parents

Conduct your sessions with an appropriate professional and responsible behaviour at all times

Provide constructive feedback to players

Communicate with parents regarding player progress
3. Parents/Guardians' Code of Conduct
Support and Encouragement

Support their child's participation positively

Respect coaches' decisions and teaching methods

Avoid coaching from the sidelines during games

Encourage good sportsmanship
Communication and Responsibility

Ensure punctual attendance at training and games

Inform coaches of any absences or medical conditions

Maintain current contact information with the club

Follow proper channels for raising concerns
4. Team Managers’ Code of Conduct
Commitment and Participation

Attend all training sessions and games punctually as scheduled

Notify parents and coaches of all scheduled events

Maintain the admin for assigned team including licenses and Spond messaging

Register all participants for practices and games
-
Manage the kit and relevant equipment/documentation for events/games
5. Safeguarding Commitment
Child Protection

Adhere to Basketball England's safeguarding policies

Report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer

Maintain confidentiality in all safeguarding matters

Follow safe recruitment procedures for all staff and volunteers
Digital Safety

Follow GDPR requirements for data protection

Use appropriate digital communication channels

Obtain necessary permissions for photography/videography

Maintain privacy in social media usage
6. Disciplinary Procedures
Process

Please note that depending on the nature of the disciplinary the process could begin from stages 1-3 after review by club management.

7. Implementation and Monitoring
Responsibility

The club committee is responsible for policy implementation

Regular reviews and updates will be conducted

All members must acknowledge and sign the code of conduct when registering with our club
